Well abandonment costs in the North Sea explained: Infographic

Oil & Gas UK have revealed that North Sea costs for decommissioning are expected to rise above £35 billion in the next 25 years.

Following concern from the industry that new exploration projects are required to stop the decline in the UKCS' resources retrieved, this infographic by fellow Acteon company, Claxton Engineering, shows just how costs of old well abandonments are halting this progress.

The infographic also looks at the decommissioning relief deed to off-set these rises, as well as the region's future trends.
