Show success at Offshore Korea 2014 for Mirage

Flange facing machines and split frame pipe cutters were among the machines on display at the Mirage stand at the 2nd Offshore Korea 2014 exhibition in Busan, South Korea from 12-14 November.

Mirage joined 502 exhibiting companies from 31 countries for the 3-day event, to showcase its range of portable machine tools to the South East Asian market.

World leaders in offshore construction

Hosted by Ministry of Trade, Industry & Energy, Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries and Busan Metropolitan City, the event is aimed at the offshore and ship building industries to promote the country’s reputation as an undisputed world leader in the construction of large offshore plant.

Keynote conference speeches included a debate on the impact of shale gas by Scott Bufton, Vice President of Universalpegasus and developments in deepwater subsea pipeline technology by Burak Ozturk, Group Technology Manager of Wood Group Kenny.

Why Korea?

The country itself is the 13th largest economy in the world, and has a well-established offshore construction industry. Korean shipyards recorded 35% of the global new building market of offshore and shipbuilding project in 2012.

Its geographical position makes it a prime location for offshore wind farms, with a number of turbine developments being undertaken by local companies.
