In this regular feature for the Mirage blog we'll be taking an in-depth look at a specific portable machine tool. This week we take a deeper look at the VB200 and VB650 also known as valve boring machines.

The VB200 and VB650 bespoke valve boring machines have been designed specifically for MSIV valves as well as:

  • Globe valves
  • Turbine throttles
  • Control valves
  • Safety valves
  • Stop check valves

The multi-functional machines provide a surface finish on the valve pressure seal area, guide ribs and also the seat - which requires minimal grinding and lapping.

Key features

Capable of both boring and facing operations, the boring machines feature a helical geared spindle drive and infinitely variable auto feed for a smooth finish and ease of operation.

Complete with a hard chrome boring column and 4 jaw quick set base, both machines are sturdy yet flexible to meet the demands of a small downtime period.

Machine package

As part of the boring machine, both come from Mirage with a complete toolkit including tools and inserts, air lubricator and hose connection, all required mounting bases and extensions too.

The package comes in its own storage/shipping box together with the CE certificate, packing list and operating manual.

Technical specifications

Although both machines offer the same operation, they differ in capabilities and size. Find out more about both machines on the valve boring machine product page here.

Choosing the right machine

As on-site machining working conditions can be challenging Mirage have designed the range of valve and line borign machines with ease of use in mind.

If you're unsure on what the best machine is for your on-site issue, get in touch with the expert Mirage team to discuss your project.

As well as valve boring machines, the Mirage line boring machines range can be used for a wide range of applications including: excavator bucket reboring, transfer gearbox housing reboring, stern tubes, drive shaft housing boring and a-frame supports.
